Are you a localvore?

This article talks about one of the biggest changes I'm trying to make to the way my family eats. I think it's important to think about where your food is grown and produced and how far it has to travel to get to your table. Food transport requires a great deal of oil, storage space, and sometimes chemical ripening in order for the food to be the proper ripeness when it gets where it's going.

Thanks for the post Amy, I love this time you the year when farmers start to bring the fruit of their labor at the market!!!!

Side note: Did you know that if an avocado stays on his tree the fruit will not ripen for 7 month, their is a natrual chemical in the leaves that will preserve the fruits for that long!
The avocado ripen only when it's taken down the tree
How cool is that!
